With financial assistance from Humanities Guahan and the Cares Act, GPT was able to join our island community in commemorating Magellan’s visit to Guam 500 years ago. This project allowed four local scholars to present a glimpse of how these events would have been experienced from the CHamoru perspective. Through study of historical texts and interviews by leading historians in Guam, the scholars engaged in an objective reception of this information and explored the CHamoru perceptions of these encounters
